Conceiving A Boy – Tips On Using Ovulation Prediction Kits

by Samantha Adams

In this article we look at ways of helping couples when they are trying to find a way of how to conceive a boy naturally. Certainly knowing when the woman is about to start ovulating is crucial, especially if they want to ensure that the sperm carrying the male gene to reaches the egg to fertilize it first. One such way for them to predict when the woman is ovulating is through them using prediction kits.

More than ever today ovulation prediction kits are proving popular with couples who want to know exactly when the woman is ovulating. The big advantage to using an OPK (ovulation prediction kit) is that it will tell them when the woman is going to start ovulating as it is able to detect increased amounts of Luteinizing Hormone being produced in the woman's uterus. Generally this occurs 36 hours before actual egg ovulation happens.

There are two kits which can now be used for predicting when a woman is about to start ovulating today. There is either the test strip device or the midstream device, which although they work in the same way, need to be used differently. The test stream method needs the woman to urinate into a container and then the device is dipped into this for several seconds. Whereas with the midstream method the device needs to be held below the vagina and the urine is allowed to stream on to it when the woman goes to the toilet. Generally with this second method you have to wait around 5 minutes before a result is provided.

There are a number of things that a couple can do when using ovulation prediction kits so that they can better determine when the woman's ovulating time has begun. Below are just a few tips which a couple may find useful if they intend to use an ovulation prediction kit to help when they are trying with how to conceive a boy.

Tip 1 - In order for you to get a better idea of when to use the ovulation prediction kit is to have a chart on which the woman's body basal temperature can be recorded. Using such charts a couple is able to look back and see when normally the woman's period of ovulating happens.

Tip 2 - Although a couple may think it is a waste of time but actually carrying out the tests more than once a day is a good idea as well. The couple need to be aware that the increase in LH (Luteinizing Hormone) only occurs in the body for a short period of time and doing the test say twice each day will hopefully mean that you don't miss this event when it occurs.

Tip 3 - It is important that the tests be carried out at the same time each day and you do not necessarily have to do it in the morning. It can be done at any time just as long as you do it at the same time each day following the first test carried out. By keeping to these set times for testing then the couple are far less likely to miss the period of time when the amounts of Luteinizing Hormone being produced rises.

Tip 4 - It is crucial that the ovulation prediction kit should be used until the level of Luteinizing Hormone in the uterus shows a marked difference. As soon as this difference has been identified then in order to increase the chances of the couple being able to conceive a boy they should make love within 36 hours of this event occurring.
