How Valuable is Life? Pro Life Speaker, Chet McDoniel, Says it is Priceless

Need a real world example of why pro life is such an important cause? Hi, meet me. My name is Chet McDoniel, and in 1980, I was born with no arms. Why is the pro life cause so important to me? Well, in some countries, I would have been killed within minutes of being born just because I looked different.

Not in the USA, right? We don't kill for looking different or abort because we don't believe a life will amount to anything. If only that were true. If only we lived in a country where life was truly valued above all.

My mom went through an extremely difficult birth process with me, and had it not been for an heroic obstetrician, we both would have died. However, that same physician who saved my life decided he would then place me in a corner, leave me alone, and give me "a chance to die."

How dare any of us presume to know the value of someone else's life based purely on the way they look. How dare any of us decide that anyone's life not be worth living. That doctor had no idea that I would have a family and live a life in service to God.

Would my parents have aborted me had they known I was going to be born handicapped? No way! They've said many times that abortion was never something they would even consider, and had they known what I was going to look like, they still would have never thought about aborting me.

The doctor at my birth, while I owe him my life, was wrong. He should not have given me the "chance to die," and obviously, I disagreed with him even back then. My life is so wonderful that I try to tell every person I meet that you can truly be happy in any circumstance. Life IS priceless!

I speak all over this nation about the value of life and how to be happy. If my life can have purpose and meaning, then abortion has no place in this world. I love getting to be an example of how life is truly valuable. I can think of no better way to conclude my talks but by saying, "If I can do it, so can you."
