Preparing The Nursery
It is one of the most exciting aspects of planning for your baby's arrival. It is time to plan the nursery and get it ready for your new baby. If you already know the gender of your baby, you can have the room all decorated appropriately for him or her when you both come home from the hospital.
You can choose to have a calm and quiet atmosphere or go for bright and stimulating colors. To many distractions might make it a little more difficult to get baby to relax and go to sleep so don't make it all too busy.

You should make sure the crib you have chosen conforms to all the guidelines for safety and that you have a good, firm mattress. If you keep to softer pastel colors such as blues, greens, pinks and yellows it may be more restful for baby.
You should ensure that all the bedding and everything in the room is clean and fresh. Keep baby’s bed clear and unobstructed by blankets, pillows or sheets to be certain that her face is clear at all times and there can be no danger of obstructing her breathing. You may feel a small foam wedge that’s positioned to keep the baby from rolling on her stomach would be beneficial. Keep stuffed animals and other toys out of the crib until your baby is a little older. You will probably be reassured if you purchase a baby monitor to hear your baby throughout the night and you can even get monitors with screens that show video of what baby is doing.
Make the room a relaxed and enjoyable place to be. It is probably best to avoid any strong scents but if you want something like lavender, keep it light. Nothing too overpowering. Keep the nursery as dust-free as possible to avoid sneezing and stuffy noses. The nursery should feel like a safe and cozy place that your baby associates with restfulness and safety.
